“When we first found out that we were pregnant it was a big surprise!

We were so excited to bring a baby earth side. When It came to our doula search we were referred to Teesee from a friend. "Teesee was a life saver. Her knowledge on newborns exceeds anyone I have met. I was very stressed and hectic after my birth due to it being very traumatic and she had such a calmness and tranquility about her that it leveled out my intense emotions. She flew across the country from California to Maine to be my postpartum doula. We planned for her to be at the birth but it's extremely hard to know exactly when the baby will come. Within a week after giving birth she was at my home ready to help. You have to choose your birth team wisely. I unfortunately chose a midwife who rushed my birth, forced me to push when neither I nor my baby was ready, forced me in positions that I didn't not want to be in, stitched me up wrong and slept on my couch the whole time. I wish I could of had Teesee at my birth because I know it would of gone a lot smoother. She would of stood up for me in a time where I couldn't stand up for myself. My stitch incisions got infected due to my midwife not telling me how to properly clean and take care of it. I was so sad that I would need to be put on antibiotics that would cause me not to be able to breastfeed. Teesee assured me not to take them and to wait until she got to me. Sure enough within 3 days she healed my infection naturally! I was also stressed about breastfeeding and wanted to give up and just pump. She was there hour after hour coaching me through breastfeeding. No matter what time of the night it was she was by my side. Without her I would of stopped breastfeeding. Teesee has a way with babies. My daughter was so calm in her arms. She was able to sleep with my daughter so I could get a much needed nights rest. Teesee is like the birthing encyclopedia! Any questions, worry's or doubts I had she was there to answer them and assure me that I was going to be okay. Not only was she a life saver post birth, she was also someone I could completely confide in. I wish she lived closer to me because I would still be hiring her to help me out, 4 months postpartum."

I had no idea what a doula was or what kind of value they would bring to the table prior to my own pregnancy. I knew I wanted a home birth, but I figured a doula was just an added unnecessary expense. My midwife suggested I just set up a call with Teesee to find out about her then make my decision afterward. I am so glad to have taken that advice . So glad, in fact, that you should also set up a call with Teesee.

Our call went about 30 minutes and Teesee explained her extensive experience with babies and pregnant women. What really sold me was she will come to visit your home prior to and after the birth. She’s full of helpful tips and tricks to move labor along and she’s a listening ear when you’re newly postpartum, your baby won’t stop screaming, and all you want to do is cry. Teesee is a mother and grandmother herself. She gets it.

Teesee is a wealth of information recommending health providers, mom groups, or even talking points when you are advocating for yourself or your new baby. My husband and I both text her questions and she will happily send over articles, book recommendations, and her two cents on the topic. She’s great to know when you’re a new parent.

“What’s not to love about Teesee? I barely know where to start. She was with us as a PostparTum doula and my husband and I feel like she is an actual angel (and baby whisperer!!). Teesee was with us on our first night home from the hospital, and several nights and days thereafter. “Having Teesee as my Doula was the best decision I could have ever made! I planned to give birth at home which meant I needed all the help coping through the intensity of labor and Teesee was absolutely amazing. My husband went through a 10 week course with me and was as prepared as possible but when it came down to it, I needed someone who had been through birth before and knew exactly what I needed. She did lots of counter pressure and massage during contractions and it truly decreased my pain to a tolerable level. My husband joked afterwards that she’s stronger than him because she showed him how hard to push for counter pressure and he was having a hard time doing it.
